What is happening in our churches?
Yes, what is really happening?
I have seen a gathering of believers where only those who pay tithes are given the front seat to sit. Not just paying tithe, am talking about fat check or cash been paid as tithe.
I have seen a gathering of believers where only those who are workers or ministers are regarded as members of the church, others are "bench warmers"
I have seen a gathering of believers where the rich is celebrated even if their source of income shed
human blood or come from an evil source.
I have seen a gathering of believers where they rejoice over the fall and suffering of once a church member who no longer worships with them.
I have seen a gathering of believers where only those who give fat offerings are recognized by the church leaders
I have seen a gathering of believers where the congregation worship in fear and are afraid to worship in another denomination so their pastors would not place a curse on them.
I have seen a gathering of believers where I cannot distinguish between it being a church and a market.
I have seen a gathering of believers where the repentance is not preached but financial success.
I have seen a gathering of believers where Sunday services has become a platform of ethnic meetings.
I have seen a gathering of believers where Sunday services has become a fashion home of displaying and discussing latest fashion trends.
I have seen a gathering of believers where female worshipers have turned Sunday services to a day to display their endowment for the opposite sex all because of sex or seeking for relationship.
I have seen a gathering of believers where speaking in tongues is taught to the members.
I have seen a gathering of believers where the doctrine doctrines, which antagonizes the content of the Bible supersedes the content of the scripture in their dealings.
I have seen a gathering of believers where their leader (the general overseer) has more than a wife.
I have seen a gathering of believers where their leader (the general overseer) practices divorce at will.
Sometimes I wonder if the following biblical passages have different meanings:
Biblical Quotes on Christian Life:
“No one can serve two masters, for either he
will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and
despise the other. You cannot serve God and money
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by
the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of
God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Put to death therefore what is earthly in
you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which
is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming. In these you too
once walked, when you were living in them. But now you must put them all away:
anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.
The LORD is
my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads
me beside still waters.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father
who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy
in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in
your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me,
you workers of lawlessness.’
If anyone thinks he is religious and does not
bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the
mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and
acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
For many, of whom I have often told you and
now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end
is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with
minds set on earthly things.
A faithful man will abound with blessings,
but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.
For you may be sure of this, that everyone
who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater),
has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Do not speak evil against one another,
brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks
evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not
a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is
able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?
Hear, O
Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with
all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these
words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt
teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou
sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest
down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine
hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write
them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any
transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of
gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s
burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is
something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
.
Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought
to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends
on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it
to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says
the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is
thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning
coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
What causes quarrels and what causes fights
among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you?
Keep your life free from love of money, and
be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor
forsake you.”
Teach me to
do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on
level ground!
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever
is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever
is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of
praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard
and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Lead me, O
LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight
before me.
Lead me in
your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you
I wait all the day long.
